Semester at Sea hat bekanntgegeben, dass sie die MS Deutschland weitere 10 Jahre bis ins Jahr 2027 als World Odyssey in den Wintermonaten chartern wird. Das Schiff wird weiterhin als schwimmende Universität eingesetzt. Phoenix Reisen hat mittlerweile auch die Charter verlängert, die MS Deutschland wird bis 2025 für Phoenix Reisen in den Sommermonaten fahren. Die Originalmeldung von SAS findet ihr hier:
Semester at Sea secures ten-year lease on MV World Odyssey
The Institute for Shipboard Education is pleased to announce the completion of a long-term lease agreement for the MV World Odyssey, which will ensure the stability and sustainability of the fall and spring voyages through the next ten years, into 2027.
After two years of leasing the MV World Odyssey under a short-term contract, ISE is excited to make the World Odyssey a more permanent home. ISE President and CEO, Gary Ransdell affirms the merits of this agreement, “The MV World Odyssey is a beautiful vessel that is an ideal shipboard campus for our students. We are fortunate to have secured long-term lease agreement for a ship that supports the academic mission of Semester at Sea so well.”
Die Ex MS Deutschland ist gestern auf ihre erste Studentenkreuzfahrten in Southampton für Semester at Sea aufgebrochen. Das ehemalige deutsche Kreuzfahrtschiff der Reederei Deilmann war nach dem Einsatz für Plantours und Partner in Kiel in der Werft und wurde ebenso renoviert wie umgebaut für den neuen Nutzer aus den USA.
Semester at Sea fährt nun von Southampton über viele verschiedene Stationen nach San Diego in den USA. Die World Odyssey soll dort am 21.Dezember 2015 ankommen. Danach, Anfang 2016 geht es auf eine neue Reise, in 102 Tagen zurück nach Europa, nach Southampton.
In den Sommermonaten ist das Schiff als „MS Deutschland“ für Phoenix Reisen im Dienst.
